Our Story
Growing up on the scenic California coast in the quaint town of Pacific Grove, I was surrounded by the rich aroma of barber's tonic and the rhythmic snip of scissors. My father, Roy Lozada, was the town's esteemed barber, a position he held with pride and dedication for an astounding 65 years. Dad finally hung up his shears at the age of 90 in 2021, leaving behind a legacy that was as much about the craft as it was about the community.
As a child, I was affectionately known as "Lefty," a nickname my father gave me because of my time on the mound as a southpaw baseball pitcher. To the townsfolk, I was "the barber’s son, the baseball player." Despite my love for the game, it was the time spent in my father’s barbershop that truly shaped my future.
My father taught me that barbering was an art form, a lesson he exemplified with every client he served. He believed in the mantra passed down from my grandfather Frank Lozada: "If you're going to do something, do it right." This principle was instilled in our family through generations, beginning with my grandfather who ran his own barbershop on 3rd Street in San Francisco. For 51 years, he balanced his trade while raising my father and his seven siblings.
On my mother's side, my grandfather George Franklin Bayless also carried the barbering torch. He spent 53 years perfecting his craft while simultaneously managing a farm and raising eight daughters in Kansas and Oklahoma. The combined legacy of these three remarkable men accounts for 169 years of barbering expertise and dedication to the trade.
